I have a weaver 3.5X10 MIL/MIL or a aimpoint red dot.

Or?

Mine will sport something in the 1.5-5 range, probably with a gold ring on it.

Tough decision. I topped mine off with a Grand Slam fixed 4.75x40. Mine will be used for deer and hog hunting and fun time at the lease during the off season.

Really depends on what you want to do with it. I have two 300's right now. One has an Eotech on it. The other has a 2-8 Nikon monarch. Like both set ups but if I could only have one it would be the Nikon set up probably. I would even like a 1-6x or 1.5-5x on it. That would probaby be perfect.

I put a Leupold Vari-X III 1.5x5 with a post reticle on the AR and a Leupold VX3 2-7 heavy duplex on my single shot Contender. Like them both.

David,

I suspect you will find the 3.5-10 more to your liking.

I don't find any close (Less than 20yds) advantage in speed and a very real disadvantage in speed at ranges beyond 25yds when comparing a Red Dot to a magnified optic with a low end at 4.5X.

Of course the magnified optic simply blows the RDO out of the water when precision is required.

If you have both give each a run and report back. grin

I am going to drink the cool aid and get a straight 6x42 with the HD reticle.
