The Final Decision. After saving money, and with Christmas and my Birthday right around the corner, there is no better time. After a while of eating a bag of skittles and drinking a coke at school lunches, working, and winning a few bets with my dad, I have around $1000 or more at the least. The father is willing to throw in a pretty penny, considering it's almost Christmas and my birthday is in early January, plus his taxes are getting a considerable jump at new years (because 20 years of working your ass off in Med school means you should give the lazy man your money). The stars have aligned, and i'm looking for a rifle set up in 7 STW. I like the GAP Non-typical a good bit, i've sent some emails and what i'm looking for is not too far off the regular Non-typical price (just wanted a cheek rest and a fluted barrel), but, If I look hard enough, I can probably find a 1/2 MOA hunting rig for alot cheaper than 3.5k. Can you more experienced folks tell me a good, accurate gun for hunting? I'm looking for a rifle with 1/2 MOA, and under 10 lbs, not much to ask. Thanks for reading.

Planning on a Barska for starters. 6-24 with a turret and easy windage adjustments for less than $400 is hard to beat.

COOPER Model 52 Excalibur in 280AI should be about $1700 or less and you get a fluted barrel and bolt.
If you go up to a Model 56 to get the 7mm STW it will cost about $1,000 more.
you're welcome grin

I don't like Cooper, not because of the rifles, it's just that they are diehard Obama supporters, and I'de rather not support the slaughter of the 2nd Ammendment.

Can't understand how this rumor keeps persisting. Dan Cooper left the company shortly after the 2008 election and has no affiliation with Cooper Firearms any more.

Oh, well my uncle gave me quite the speech on why I shouldn't get a cooper, now I might. With the saved money i could get some good glasses, not a nightforce but maybe a Vortex, and still save money leftover.

I realize that you are bucks-up but there are better deals out there. You can get a BSA 6-24x44 with their tactical mil-dot system for $149.99 and there is no better scope at any price. You can also save the cost of a 20 moa base by very carefully and precisely smacking the end of your barrel on a stump. It will give the barrel a 20 moa upward curve that will give you an easy 1000 yards with the available adjustment in that superb piece of glass.

Very tough to argue with this wisdom, as anybody who knows anything is in the same camp.

I would only add that it is very important to make sure the Barska's wheeliecam knob is properly calibrated to your load. They have instructions on their website.
