A couple of production .260s I have are a Kimber 84M and a Steyr Forester Safe bolt Both are very satisfying rifles. Kimber quit making 260's.....glad i got my Montana when i did... Agree. Mine is like new in the box. Very rare, very sweet.

They may not win many beauty contests, but the ones I've played with have been the most accurate outta-the-box rifles I've shot. That said, I only own one Sako. If (when) I own more Sakos, I might have to revise that....

Find a short action 700 and send it to Pacnor or Mickey Coleman or Redneck and have the barrel screwed on.

Nosler is chambering their rifles in 260 Rem.
Mine are a Kimber Classic and a Model Seven.
eurooptic.com is listing some Sako 85s in 260 also.

I've only owned Remington bolts (3) in total. So that's the way i wanted to go but i prefer a 22" barrel over the 20" that the M7 has. But in reality,i don't think 2'' in barrel length is gonna make a difference. Just a personal preference type of thing. Savage does have my interest but i'm not familiar with them at all.

I sent a Ruger MKII off and had a 260 tube installed. This was before the run of Hawkeye's that Ruger made. Eddie F is coating that gun and I'm also going to send him the McWoody on order for a bedding job. That rifle has a #2 Douglas with an 8 twist -- 24" barrel.
I'm also giving thought to a light 260 too. Something at 21-22", 6.5 to 7 all up. Probably on a 700 action.
A couple of other choices to consider -- Cooper and MRC. The local shop has a MRC stainless AWR new on the shelf. It's a nice rifle! Had I seen the MRC 260 before I started the Ruger project, the MRC would be in my safe...
I enjoy handguns and I really like shotguns,...but I love rifles!

+1 on a Steyr in .260 being very satisfactory.

I'm kind of in the sme boat. I have project parts laying about the house for a 260 heavy . And my son is at the age where I owe him a deer gun. I'd love to give him my Allweather, but he's a southpaw and it's painfully awkward for me to watch him shoot it. I have Ruger 260 barrel that I got off Ebay, and the local shop has a LH Hawkeye in 7mm/08 = tough choices all around. Kaiser Norton

SAS- care to take a guess on the weight of the AWR? Some recent posts by Mule Deer about the action have me at least looking at the MRC offerings

The 260 has a 22. Mine weighed 8.5 with a VX2 3-9x40 and Talley LW lows. I'm guessing the 260 would be right around 8. Swap the bottom metal and drop it in an Edge --get you right around 7.

I really like that Zebra paint scheme.

Salvage makes the lightweight hunter and a regular accustock model in .260. And the LRP, which weighs about, oh, 11 lbs out of the box. The salvage accustock sporters are ... an acquired taste. But I guess I have acquired the taste, I own a couple of them now. They really don't even seem that ugly to me anymore. (what???) Accuracy makes up for looks. I have a heavy LRP in .22-250. More of a sniper rifle on varmints (of all sorts! )
