Was gonna try a set of talley rings for my new 700. Which ones would work best for a leupold vx3 4.5-14-40? Low,med????

Low... Center to center, they're 1.675" on a 700 action (I measured, not a guess.) So unless you're rocking a bull barrel with that scope, you'll have plenty of room.

I mounted a new 3x9x40 VX2 on my CDL SF .260 using the lows and they are a perfect fit.

Where is the best place to buy online I normally buy direct from Talley but Midway has them on sale right now at a 21% discount. Oh, and go with the lows for sure!

Should i lap these? I have never done it but was considering getting the kit to do it but was looking for some opinions

I check with alignment bars first to see if lapping is required with any set of rings. The rings themselves will likely be machined well, very round and uniform. But nobody can tell you how straight your receiver holes are on your particular rifle. Often can get up/down variation on 700's too.
