No because Obama hasn't had a budget in four years in office and there inlays a great deal of the problem. The truth is no one really knows for sure what that little POS is spending. At best its a guess.

Who else butta buncha commanists could come up with a way of life where you spend ya days workin' fer one group of azzholes while another group of azzholes takes all the money you make?

It takes a while,...but by the time a man has reached his mid 50's,...he's ready ta say "fuggit" unless he's a stone cold moron.

I have been saying for years that all public agencies should be doing baseline budgeting and then they couldn't pull the wool over the public's eyes. Cheers NC

northcountry,

I believe you might have confused zero based budgeting with baseline budgeting.

Budgets ought to be zero based. That way bureaucrats will have to justify every dollar they proposed to spend as opposed to using the previous year's budget as baseline.

I said right after the election, the GOP ought to just sit back, let Obama & company run wild, and let the pieces fall where they may - new recession, inflation, record unemployment, failed economy, off-the-chart taxes, crashed stock market... the whole ball of wax. They own it. Period.

Maybe then, the "people" will finally realize what they voted for. They asked for it; they got it... and can blame no one but themselves.

Yeah,...lemme tell ya,..lemme tell ya,..

A workin' man gets up at 5AM,...maybe he tries to wake the wife up fer some pre work nookie,...she grunts and backhands him in the eye,..

,..so he stumbles into the kitchen while diggin' at his eye,..makes some coffee,...then goes to work and puts up with a buncha stupid chit all day makin' stuff that nobody needs.

On the way home he cuts down across 7th street and sees Snappy Sammy Smoot and his boys Bar-B-Q'in ribs in the front yard,...suckin' own a brown bag,..laughin' and havin' a big time.

At the end of the week they give the workin' man a check that'll cover a bag o'groceries and enough gas to get his ass back to work for another 5 damn days.

,...and ain't no woman thumped Snappy Sammy Smoot in the damn eye,..because he don't bother his woman until 9 fuggin' 30 AM,....and she's in the mood by then,..or at the very least, she's receptive.

I'm tired o'gettin' hit in the eye at 5AM,....I'm tired of buyin' Sammy's ribs.

Give me my government cheese,...gimme my damn unemployment check,..and get out the damn way.

,...and start callin' me Sammy, dammit.

B, I'm sorta with you. It's axiomatic that you shouldn't depend on government any which way,..or should be, as it--government--inevitably exudes the worst traits of human nature--waste, inefficiency, condecension, slow (if at all) response, arrogance, elitism, waste--oh yea, sorry; repeating myself.

Which is why communism or it's less extreme brother, socialism, ultimately fails after years , maybe generations of muddling along. Exceptionalism s unknown.

So, to human nature, the more that s taken from you, the less one tends to produce..

Yes, let the Bush tax cuts expire and allow the spending sequesters to take place. The economy did okay under Clinton with those tax rates and even with the spending sequesters we'll still have a budget deficit going forward, so even more needs to be done in the future.

I see on the news that the tax increase will cost the average family over $3,000 a year. That's tough medicine to take, but if we don't take it our kids and grandkids will have to take far worse. Even with the higher taxes and reduced spending the economy and the people would do okay if Obama would just stop forcing more and more regulations on businesses.

I think that is the KY version of going John Galt. wink

the logic is irrefutable though.....I am struck by the same sentiment as I drive to work every day past able bodied 'utes ambling back to they cribs sucking on a fohty for a hard day of sleeping, TV, and a pipe full of crack to start another busy night, all at my expense.

I've said it before. No one gives the GOP congress CREDIT for balancing the budget in the 1990's, why are they gonna BLAME them for letting taxes go up, now???

Oh, sure, the media will try to blame the GOP for it for a few weeks, but ultimately the public will blame Obama (I hope).

I like the cutting waste, but this make it FIRST. Before they cut grandpas SS lets see them get serious about the wasteful spending in the US. Neither party has really given it any serious consideration. For many it's how they buy their votes.

I'm not exactly going to give the GOP a slap on the back if my taxes go up so they can protect those making a hell of a lot more than me.

I didn't spend the damn money so I'm not feeling all that inclined to be on the hook for it.

The Hurricane Sandy relief bill has 1 dollar in every 20 dedicated to pork, not Sandy relief. And the beat goes on.

Yes use your google-fo to read all about it.

I'd actually like to see us quit subsidizing Afghan, Iraq and the rest of the world before we start cutting the benefits of those who already paid into the system.

instead of "eliminating the Bush tax cuts", why don't they call this "restoring the Clinton tax increases"?

the only reason the issue keeps coming up is that the only way the tax cuts could get a few democrat votes and pass was to have them sunset in ten years.

This is a great strategy! Wait until Jan 1,2,3ish. The Bush Tax cut will be gone and they can vote on (restoring) cutting taxes on 98% of all Americans and be the hero for pushing through a huge Tax Cut for the country! Grover will be impressed!

It is not black and white, it is Ivory and Dary Grey, Impressive!

At this point it is going to melt down, the GOP should be doing whatever they have to do to make sure Obama has no scapegoat. They all need to step back, quit negotiating and then vote "present". Anything short of that will be faulted for the failure. I have heard this strategy mentioned before, what I haven't heard is why the GOP doesn't think that would be the best choice at this point.

Instant ignition, or slow burn. either way it is the direction we are headed, they need to leave no mistake of the reasons why.

Agreed, but what ticks me off is waiting months to work on this when they knew it was going to expire at the end the year. Probably the farmer in me,but when something needs to be fixed, you fix it, and don't wait months to do so.

what bristo said. I understand I made my way in life and reap what I made of myself. Just seems like I'm spinning in a rut that is filling up more and more with fees, surcharges, income and property tax increases.

I'll vote for let the taxes go up, see how America responds when dividend income is taxed as normal working wage income for example. Cap gains tax too. Taxtaxtaxtaxtax. smile
