I'm sure this is a worn out question on this board, but I'm going to reload my EG and want to keep it simple. Your favorite .300 bullet and maybe why? To be used for whitetail and mule deer.
Thanks much in advance!

I use the Hornady 180 gr. RNSP Interlock in my iron-sighted EG. It chronographs right at 2250 fps and is a deer hammer.

165 grain Nosler Partition for me but I hunt elk as well. For deer only I'd probably shoot the 150 grainer. Partitions are probably a little overkill for white tailed deer but since when is "overkill" a bad thing when it comes to hunting bullets. Reliable expansion and enough retained weight to penetrate. The Partition has been my go to bullet for the last 30 years. It's never let me down, others have on occasion.

150 grain cor-lokts. Not very glamorous, but effective, available and cheap.
When I was still hand loading, I used the 165 grain partition.
Neither bullet ever failed me.

I've been using 150 grain Win power points in my reloads for a couple of years. Fairly short bullet, doesn't intrude into the powder space much, works great on deer.

I'm reloading 130 grain Barnes TSXs for the 300 now; figure these bullets will bring down any deer here in Canada.

I have yet to shoot game with my .300, but I have been getting good accurate loads with 165-grain Hornadys (Interlocks and SST's) and Reloder 15. The rifle shoots the Federal 180-grain factory load especially well, better than my handloads to date!

I use the 150 gr Partitions at 2650 fps in my pre-mil F, and the 180 gr Speer rnsp-hc at 2350 fps in my take-down G, have only use the G on deer so far, a w.t. doe at 80 yards quartering on, bullet hit point of shoulder and exited the ribs, I dug a beautifully mushroomed bullet out of a pine tree after exiting the doe.
Doe was DRT.

Spire Points seem to have a shape made for the short neck .300 case.

Thanks again...I've been busy reading up on the bullets suggested and their reviews. Every one has been a good choice.
Why? Maybe because this is THE site for all things Savage.

I like either the Hornady 150 grain Spitzer flat base Interlock or the same weight in the Sierra Pro Hunter for deer hunting. Have killed a lot of deer in Michigan with those bullets. They sit on top of 41 grains of Reloder 15, accurate and very deadly to Michigan Whitetails. Happy New Year!

Hornady 150 Spire Points. Group small mushroom big. Yep. Been loading them for years for my Dad. And to keep logistics simple, they work pretty darn well in my son's 30-06 too. Dale

I've killed a couple KY white tails with Sierra's 150 gr Spitzer...both were one shot kills and were down in less than ten feet from where they were hit. The ranges were 110 yds, and 80 yds. Accuracy is exceptional with them as well. I've had excellent results with 3031, IMR4895, Winchester 748, RE-15, and SR4759. Three shot groups less than 1-1/4" at 100 yds off the porch rail are about the average. But I've had many that were less than an inch. My 4x scoped EG loves 'em, as do several Springfield 03-A3's and Garands. They're good through a .308 Sako Forester as well...HTH's Rod

I like the Sierra 150 flat base for my rifles chambered in 300 Savage.

I don't have a 99, but I do have two rifles chambered for the .300 Savage. One is a Savage 110 and the other is built on a Winchester Model 70 Classic stainless short action with a Hart barrel.
I like RL-15 powder and either the 165 Nosler partition or the 180 Winchester Power Point. As yet, all I've shot with either rifle is paper.
Keep your gun-hand ready and your eyes peeled.
