My Gramps... I cry as I write this. He was one of my best friends and we were buddies and pals. I feel lucky to have shared so much time with him but those experiences make it harder as well. I was lucky enough to grow up with two fathers. Gramps never missed one of my high school or college athletic events. He taught me to fish and trap. He served in the Navy during WWII and was extremely patriotic. He loved the Lord and his family. Sorry for your loss, and hopefully he has gone to a place where he will always be a young man and perpetually get to do all the things he loved the most... waiting for the days his loved ones will be with him once again...

Very sorry for your loss. I lost my father about 2 yrs ago and this sort of thing definitely hits the "empathy nerve"!

I remember you posting a couple of those pics before..I always take notice of the WWII veterans...
Obviously you had good times and many memories...
Be thankful to whatever or whoever you believe in that you had him for as long as you did.
The rest of us are thankful for how he served in the war, it has literally allowed us to live the lives we have....

He looks to have lived a long, happy, very rewarding life, and your words give testimony to the great man he was. Some days I still find myself lost in daydreams about both my grandfathers, 23 and 13 years since they've gone. So very sorry for your loss.

My sincere condolences to you. You have some wonderful pictures to help keep even more wonderful memories alive. Right now, crying is necessary. As time passes, the memories will start to mix laughter with the tears. Eventually, the laughter will win out. Best, John
