I would appreciate any pertinent info pertaining to problems associated with this project. Both of my kids have a MkII factory rifle chambered for it, they are fun to shoot and very accurate with hand loads. I want one for myself... I'm a lefty so the question that comes first... What factory gun / caliber to use as the donor? .223 I assume? Know any smiths that will open the bolt face? Magazine issues?
Hi, I have the CZ 527 Carbine in 223,I dont know if they make a lefty in the 527 Carbine but if they do you would probably really like it. Nice and handy,18 inch barrel, less than 7 pounds scoped ,single set trigger. Craig
I've looked for both aforementioned rifles and have come up empty... I've been looking on and off for several years. I would like to Buy a lefty Hawkeye and go from there.
Zastava and CZ made RH versions in 7.62x39 but as far as I am aware, none in LH. However they do make LH versions in 223. If you really wanted one the cheapest way might be to buy a RH in 7.62 and a LH in 223 and take them both to a smith and have him do the swap for you. Then sell the surplus parts. The Zastava would be the easier one to convert, being a push feed.
K-Var did a big order of left handed Zastava's earlier this year and had some extra rifles as well. The 7.62 x 39 was one of the offerings. I would call K-Var at 702-364-8880 and see if they have any left.
