For the first time in many, many years I've got some venison that has a moderately strong gamey taste (it's still pretty tastey, though ).

I'm new to this thread, so forgive me if this has been covered a hundred times, but what can I marinade it in to tone down the flavor?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

A good soak in plain ol Italian Dressing may well be what you need for that venison.

Dr. Pepper or rootbeer and a deep pit. It's what we do to 'old bears' that seem to get 'donated' to our club for the Wild Game Feeds we do every spring.

This buck kinda tastes like liver. He came from a ranch I hadn't hunted before so I'm guessing it comes from his diet.

I've been looking elsewhere on the web. Seems like milk and Italian dressing are the favorites. Thanks for the replies!

Another recipe that does a good job of masking the flavor is stir fry teriyaki. Cut the meats in small strips then soak it in teriyaki marinade, stir fry and serve over steamed rice.

I don't marinade venison, period. If it's a mite "funky", I use chipotle tabasco as a searing sauce and eat it with plenty of garlic salt and fresh ground black pepper.

Or some cream of mushroom soup!

I'd rather have a bad day hunting than a good day working!
