How can I convince my parents they need to buy me a Remington 700 ADL from Academy Sports for my graduation present from Lackland? I figure no 10 day waiting period, I would have had a few months pay in the bank, plus who doesn't want another rifle... I need a present from Winnie to Shayne. Now.. the hate. I dunno if this is gay but I would want one in .270 Winchester Or a 25-06... Less gay? Put a Vortex on top so I keep some money saved for hunting. What says the Fire?

The .270 ADL would be a superb choice. Despite the banter around here the .270WCF is an absolutely fantastic hunting cartridge. Even the haters know this to be true but haters gotta hate!

You had me pulling for you, until you mentioned the whole .270 thing. I'm sorry, but that's kind of a deal-breaker for me, and I'm here in San Antonio.
I could have garnered some support for you on the quarter bore, but..............
I hope everything works out for you.

Lose this 270 urge before you start asking about DADT.

Own one. Might go with the quarter bore.. or the .277 bore. Put the USAF wings on the stock.

If'n you have an -06, then the 270 is redundant.
Go with the 1/4.

Well, just so the haters can keep hating, dump the 270 thing, and dump the Remington thing, and buy yourself a 6.5 Swede in a Tikka T3 stainless synthetic.

After I bought my first .270, I just about quit hunting with my '06. I am not a fan of the .25-06, but most of my cowboys down on the ranch used them, primarily because they were all one-rifle guys and they shot a hell of a lot more coyotes than deer.

With a .30-06 I'd start looking at short action chambers like .223 Rem, .22-250 Rem or .243 Win. That will give you a more rounded two gun battery than a .25-06/.270 and .30-06. FWIW I have the .25-06, .270, and .30-06 and if I had to sell the .270 would be one of the last one to go and the .25-06 the first.
