Last time I saw Buck, he was so drunk he could barely stand, and definitely couldn't sing. Come to think of it, Hank Jr. was in the same shape last time I saw him! It's been awhile since I've seen anyone in concert.

Buck Owens... immortal! if only for the Heehaw classics...
"Doom, despair and agony on me, deep dark depression and excessive misery. If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all, doom despair and agony on me..."
...and my own personal all-time favorite...
"Where, or where, are you tonight? How could you leave me here all alone? I searched the world over and I thought I found true love... Then you met another and THHPPPT you were gone...." <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I can't believe Conway Twitty was only mentioned once...
I was in a logging camp for a while where there was a cassette player in the cookhouse, and only one cassette...It may have scarred me !

1akhunter "Course "Red Neck Mothers" is an all time great song, but I was thinking about "Night Rider's Lament" which Suzy Boggus covered pretty well. It's great to see some of these old names. Now where did I put my old turntable. Someone is going to say "What's a turntable?"

Not real sure who he is.....is he the one that sings with Loretta Lynn, "you're the reason my kids are ugly"....and sings that song about "lying here with Linda on my mind"?

Lacy J. Dalton should have made it to the top. Someone must have given her a bum steer. Where did she go? I wasn't a big "Cornway" fan (as Loretta called him) but now that he's gone I miss and appreciate him a lot.

Love Jimmy Buffett, especially the early stuff, but I wasn't sure to include him in this genre. There was a Texas connection as well as a Montana one as in "Rancho Deluxe," one of the truest westerns ever made, but not necessarily the best in a traditional way. Buffets sister is {was} married to Tom McGuane and lived in Paradise Valley with the rest of the movie stars and Californians. People liked McGuane (somewhat).

If that was off the top of your head, I'm impressed. Especially if you did it in less than 15 minutes.

Is he the one who sings that "Amanda" song? Naaa, IIRC that was Waylon Jennings, as in "Amanda, light of my life, fate should have made you a gentleman's wife..." Personally, I never cared much for Conway Twitty, but "Hello Darlin'..." has much merit, come to think of it, so does "That's my job, thats what I do, everything I do is because of you..." perhaps the best eulogy song ever written. Most of those mentioned are favorites of mine.
I'll add Ed Bruce, Chris LeDoux, George Straight, Gene Autry, Loretta Lynn, Tammy, Roger Miller, Jerry Reed, ...(my fingers are tired).
