I have read a lot of Bill Sears writings, and you just can't say enough about his expertise.
His 'trio' has been an inspiration for many an outdoorsman. His knife design though, always left me cold. The blade shape just does not thrill me, and the folding knife, while maybe good for his day and age, can be bettered easily now.
Just one of my own 'trios'..........

I like his idea of having an ax, a folder, and a fixed blade though.

Me, either. It's a storied knife, though, and you will see many buckskinners (living history enthusiasts) with them, if it suits their 'personna'. In its day, it served a useful purpose.

Makes a very good spatula for the frying pan, and useful for spreading on bread.
As the camp do it all knife it is fairly handy, particularly for those of us that like a thin light blade for chores that do not require the use of an axe.
