besides bringing back the .480 Ruger in the SRH, they also are listing the .222 in the 1A and 6.5-.284 in the #1V
other calibers, 7x57 in the International, .375 H&H, and .45-70

I would gladly pay for a 1V in 22 LR.

I'd like a 1V in .221 Fireball...but reckon at some point I'll settle for a Cooper MTV

Thinking the RSI 7x57 may be more my style than a .280 AI Montana...my Lord, it it were Target Grey and Circassian...

Is it just me, or are they offering ONLY those calibers in the #1? Have they gone the "classic" route?
From their website:
Ruger No.1 Rifles are available in select calibers and configurations for 2013, these caliber offerings will be discontinued in 2014, when we will introduce new calibers for these configurations

It's a wee bit bewildering to me that they are offering the different models of No. 1 in only 1 caliber each. What's up with that? I'm down with doing a special run of whatever for Davidson's or Lipsey's or whatever, but historically those rifles have been available in a variety of popular calibers, not just one caliber per model. Kinda makes me wonder what's up with Ruger. Having said that, I have designs on getting a 10/22 VLEH later this year, and that 1A in 222is wicked interesting.

What I'm wondering is why Ruger is using "caliber" instead of "cartridge" in their press release. The rest of you are excused.

When will they ever add a 6.5BR in a 19" semi-bull bbl? 9 twist, I'd confirm that before letting that make your buying decision, companies have been known to have typos in their specs...just sayin' I'd not be surprised, Ruger seems to do a better job than Rem on twist rates....at least in 6.5s

This doesn't bode well for my discretionary gun fund either

I've been holding off, waiting to see what Ruger would do in the #1. The .222 with a 9t sounds very enticing.
Thanks for the heads up!
There is no accounting for taste.
Experience is a great thing as long as one survives it.
Generally, there ain't a lot that separates the two however, Barely making it is a whole lot more satisfying than barely not making it.

.222 the only cartridge left that will shoot good in a #1. I would love one in 6.5 Creedmore if it would shoot .5 MOA.
Since they are joined at the hip with Hornady now....

This doesn't bode well for my discretionary gun fund either I'm thinking they know about yours, mine, and everyone elses......discontinuing in 2013 when the next variations are offered.......Ingwe had it right: Sheeit!

I was a little surprised to see the 6.5-284. Is anyone besides Norma & Nosler making factory ammo for it?

Me too. Especially so when the Creedmores were just made. Seems like an almost unnwecesary wrinkle to add to a very limited offering.

IIRC, the 243 was no longer mfg in the RSI, miss the one I sold, and no more 270s in #1s from what I could tell....
The 6.5-284 is interesting......
