Got a bit of fresh snow today so decided to try out my new 17 Remington. Set up over the salt flats near a creek that still has salmon in it. I hit the rabbit squealer for one set and had two beatiful cross foxes come hauling down the creek towards me. I hit the squeak again, one stopped and I head shot the light one at 220yds. The dark one turned around and was trotting away when my partner squeaked. He stopped and got a 25gr Berger at 265 yards. These are both cross foxes, the most common here. It shows the color range of them. No two are the same.

Nice...foxes are kinda few and far between around here, been seeing more last couple of years, but I've been letting 'em be. Hopefully in a few years there will be enough of them around that I'll be alright with hunting a few of them.

Yes, the coyotes and wolves are kind of hard on the fox poulation. The only thing killing foxes here is people, and there ain't a lot of us doing it. Plus, the foxes are eating good!

I have done some fishing off Kodiak and Afognak Islands and the numbers of Fox we saw whenever we got near a shoreline of either island was amazing.
Sometimes we would have two or three Fox in sight at once working on the beaches.
Alas I never took the time to go ashore and Hunt them - wish I had now.
I also am a big proponent of the 25 grain Bergers in any centerfire 17 Rifle for use on predators. They are simply an outstanding bullet - accurate, lethal and easy on fur.
