I honestly haven't really noticed much difference(of course my paychecks vary so much week to week, it would take a LOT to be noticeable)

That is a very good question. The House is supposed to, but BHO is allowed a certain amount to implement each EO. He is spending money without the approval of the House. I do think it is interesting that the Senate has not approved a budget since BHO has been in office. The ways things are working now are not the ways the Constitution calls for them to work.

SS was and could have been a very good program, it's been the misuse of the funds dumping them into the general fund that was blown on everything from $400 dollar hammers to the mating songs of African frogs to the rich pensions our elected provide for themselves out of those and other funds.

I'm pretty certain when we sing our anthem and mention the land of the free, the original intent didn't mean cell phones, food stamps and birth control.

Social Security was never a good program. Its socialism at its finest. The government has no right to take my money under force, and demand that I save for my retirement/disability. The fact that the money has been taken from the fund is nothing more than theft of already stolen property.

Luckily, I don't pay into that farce, and have not for nearly ten years.

You paid into it for 60 years and now you are drawing on it, good for you.

We are forced to pay into it, and it is pretty much agreed on by everyone that it will NOT be there when we get to your age, and we aren't supposed to bitch. Really?

Why doesn't anyone see the two years when they took more money home as an appreciated windfall rather than this year being a loss?

stxhunter,

"guess I'll insist on cash when i can, on my flooring jobs."

Yeah that works, but will come back to bite you in the azz if you ever plan on drawing Social Security. The less you pay in, the less you get. It is based on earnings history.
What hurt me severely is the 7 years I spent self employed in a schitty economy during the 1980s. Some years the books showed a net loss, and others weren't enough to amount to anything. That cut down the total number of years that counted toward Social Security, as well as lowering my average income that is calculated into the SS payment.

Of course, there may be no SS available by the time you are ready to retire, so it may be moot. Total crapshoot, the way I see it.

SS is just a tax to fund some things that the govt wants to do. It really is only SOCIAL, but certainly not SECURITY.

If you take cash, do your self a favor and drop 15 or more off the top into an investment. IRA or some other investment.

My dad worked for SS for most of his life. Started as a claims Rep and ended up as a branch manager. Of all the sob stories, by far the most common was folks who worked in the trades that did a lot of off the book work would come in to claim their benefits at retirement and find that it was nowhere near what they had planned.

The collection of taxes which are not absolutely required, which do not beyond reasonable doubt contribute to public welfare, is only a species of legalized larceny. Under this Republic the rewards of industry belong to those who earn them. Coolidge

NO TAXES FOR FAMILY'S MAKING 250,OOO OR LESS!!!

1) .75 Flu shots (Obama care) Tax?

2) for those fortunate enough to be provided healthcare from their employers. Watch your deductions. And also watch what will be required of you to cover your dependents. TAX?

3) gun control? Could there be some taxes involved here?

I am very glad that your glass is half-full! But I think this is what they wanted you to notice. So they could pack it up your hinney in other areas. And it appears that you may have took it hook, line and sinker. No hard feelings meant, just wouldn't want you to give a liar too much credit.

Take care, Willie

Between my wife and myself, we're paying an additional $600/month. That's an additional $7K a year in taxes.

Congress has the power of the purse, the President just has an all or nothing veto pen.

Can you see the reversal. Back when Bush was in and Congress was Democrat every one blamed Bush for the economy. That was due to the ministry of truth declaring as such (the media.) Now that the liberal socialist Obama is in it's Congress's fault, again because the ministry of truth says it is..

Got hates hypocrisy!!!!
