I am looking for a 6 X 45 rifle. I prefer a bolt action, but would consider other platforms. Please let me know what you have, or where I might find one.

Thanks

WHat have you got? What twist is the barrel?
I would think a 6X47 is similar in performance to the 6X45....right?
Thanks

The 6x47 is based on the 222 remington mag brass necked to 6mm & is a sweet round for deer sized game. I was going to build one, but went with the 6x45 due to all the .223 brass I have. Both are very accurate & low recoil rounds.
Many do mix the 6x47 remington with the 6x47 lapua, have to make sure which one they are talking about as they are not even close to the same. I know the above did say 6x47 remington.
You can build one very simply on a Savage .223 gun, all you need to do is swap the bbl to 6x45 and you are set.

Did I make you cry......boooo hooo, life goes on.

Have a beautiful custom XP100 actioned single shot varminter in 6/223 available. Also have a 6x47 benchgun but it is far more picky to load for and the 222 Rem Mag brass has poor concentricity.

I haven't found the 6x47 to be picky to load for at all. Nearly every load I've tried has went sub MOA out of my Savage as long as I stick to 80 grain bullets or lighter because of a slow twist. Do I wish there was more brass available than Remington? I haven't seen where it would really improve anything as my rifle out shoots me most days.

If the 6/47 was easy to load for and keep in tune it would still be used in benchrest. It ain't because it ain't. Ask any old time benchrester about the pecidillos of the 6/47 and you are in for a long speech and rightfully so. MOA ? Hell any decent "over the counter" varminter is able to do that. When you measure your 5 shot groups with a micrometer instead of a yardstick the failings of the 6/47 will become apparent.

The only good things that the 6/45 and 6/47 offer is that they are shot off the same small boltface and brass for the 6/45 is cheap and easy to find........until lately.

If you want to play with a high accuracy 6 mm be it a bench gun or a fine walking varminter I would suggest the 6PPC. You will be miles ahead in accuracy, ease of tuning, brass quality, known and proven load data, etc.

I have a 6x47 built on a blue Model Seven action with a 20" stainless Lilja sporter (about like a 700 spoter contour, maybe a tick lighter). It's in a McMillan Model 7 camo Quiet Cloth stock. Includes a Hornady custom grade New Dimenson 2-die set with micrometer adjustment with an extra custom built 6x47 bushing for this specific rifle. Includes 75 pieces of brass and 30 loads with 80 gr TTSX. Shoot great with several loads. Load info included. $850 plus shipping.

Thanks,
M7

6BR is a GREAT choice but I prefer the lesser recoil and greater accuracy of the 6PPC. It is only a matter of personal choice. There is sure nothing wrong with the 6/45 or 47, I just think [know]there are better choices.

Let me go on record as saying that out to 400 yds I just think the 6PPC is the berries and believe me when I say I have owned/shot 'em all.

Not a thing in the world wrong with the 6/45, I own one and use it in offhand competition. It is certainly a better choice than the 6/47 due to the brass and temperment issues. I just feel there are better choices........like the 6PPC or the 6BR.

If I gave a [bleep] about benchrest I might care. Since he wants a hunting rifle, I'd run a 6x45/47 and not look back.

Judging by the size of your targets it is obvious that accuracy means little to you. Enjoy.

I'm not interested in benchrest either, and as far as my comment about the 6x47 not being hard to load for IME my rifle hasn't. I can take nearly any load data for any bullet between 60-80 grains pick a powder charge and sling bullets down range and get a sub 1" group, if I play with the seating depth and I can tune the load down to a " with regularity. I don't need a walking varmint rifle that shoots better than -1 MOA to be successful in what I'm using it for.
