That's the one I really want but still no reason not to buy this one. I get i little nervous carrying what is currently my only 7X57 in the field.

I'd love to have one in stainless. The new 7x57 also has my attention.

The 26" bbl doesn't appear to be a misprint, even the overall length is 2 1/2" longer than other LA calibers.

Good for Winchester to recognize a little market share they were missing. Course with the Portugese assembling them, it will take a little longer to send back over the pond.
Waiting for Ruger to cycle back with the M77 and/or Ruger #1A.

And the weight is 4 oz more than a .270 Gay. So I guess that sciences out to about an ounce per inch.

It's a do-it-yourself 22" or 24" Featherweight. They come with little perforations around the barrel at 2" and 4" back so you can just break off the part you don't like.

Kidding aside, it does seem odd to make any kind of Featherweight with a 26" barrel. Their twist rates in some chamberings need re-examining as well. 1 in 10 for a .243, 1 in 12 for the .308. I'm sure they'll work okay with standard cup and core factory stuff but it seems Winchester isn't thinking too much of the longer mono-metals and other longer offerings these days.

I had a Vanguard 308 with a 1:12 twist and it shot the 168gr AMAX bullets amazingly well, and the 165gr Accubonds good, too. Those are both fairly long bullets you'd think would work better in a 1:10, but they shot better then any of the shorter bullets I tried. Never tried any TSX's in it, did try the GMX and they didn't shoot for chit. Could have been the long bullet, or just that load

Dr. Lou

Doesn't look like one coming in stainless. Checked the website of one of my distributors, the 7x57 is listed as a new offering with a 26 inch barrel.

For you other loonies, the other new listing is an Extreme Weather in .264.
