Leaving for southeastern Missouri in the morning to kill some sky carp. Sounds like they are staged up pretty good in the area we will be hunting. Will report in when I return.

I wish I could get some of this action. It seems that when they hit southern Manitoba, they just fly right on through overnight. Rarely see them parked here in spring.

I guess they are eating their Arctic breeding grounds out of house 'n home. We don't get 'em here (snows), but I saw 2 subspecies of Canadas and a bunch of Emperors this afternoon, just out bird watching near home.
When I was a wildlife agent in Louisiana in the early 90s, there was a "creeping" law that made it an offense to crawl up on 'em to shoot at 'em. Now I guess we should be awarding medals for getting a Texas bag limit of 25, or whatever it is now.

I am looking at heading to South Dakota for another hunt as soon as the weather stabilizes.
There are aprox 1 to 1.5 million staged up in the nebraska basin and the northwest corner of Missouri ready to start heading north into the dakotas.

I hear the Snow Geese flying over my house just about every night when I take my dog out. They are way up there. On a clear night you can see them flying but on most nights you just hear them.

Ken, I am a waterfowl man, I have lots of sub. spieces of Canadian Honkers fly by. I just like to eat Speckels and Snows. Yuma my dog, we like to stay out and hear them talk back and forth as fly by after Dark. Something about wet dogs, shotguns and feathers, it always seems fun. Fishing keeps the boat ready for duck & Goose Season. Thanks for the post. duckgunner.

It is an awesome sound sitting there in total darkness hearing all them birds flying overhead. Here in wisconsin we get alot of the canada migration during the spring and fall.

Claycrusher, only 216 days to duck season, 186 days to Sep. Goose season, and your going snow hunting when? I am so green with envey, I don't need camo. Yuma and I watched vedios today on it and a demo tape from a guide. Good Luck,

The majority of them are sitting in the nebraska basin and the squaw creek area in missouri. They have been up as far as north dakota/southdakota border but the weather has been pussing them back and forth.

Yep, the spring hunt is still on. Daily limit 20, possession 80, and electronic calls are allowed. But they never seem to 'stage' around here come springtime. Start of April. I've yet to get out for them.

You may now return to your regular programming. Ignore the man behind the curtain . . .

man behind the curtain!!

too bad they don't linger in your area, sounds like we still need to harvest a lot more of 'em, the darn things get kinda smart after a little shooting pressure. some of my earliest memories of wildlife were seeing many 1,000s of geese in the rice fields near Houston, Texas back in the 60s.
