Oh yeah...the good 'ol thump, thump, thump of the winter tires. grin

People don't let their stuff warm up enough before they leave in the mad dash for work. Wrecks stuff, but makes you smile. smile

How do you guys warm up your tires?

Never had a square tire, even down to -38, they stayed round. Lots of other stuff had issues, but not that.

This frozen dog barking thing has me worried though. By spring, it could be so bad as things are thawing out that you guys will need earplugs. Damn that was funny! smile

Back in the late 50's and early 60's, tire manufactures were using nylon cord in tires. These realy took a set in extreme cold. 10/15 mph was the best you dared do until they warmed up enough to round back out.

I had a 56 Chevy with a straight stick that sat outside at night. When I parked it for the night I left it in low otherwise the gear lube was so stiff that you couldn't shift it into gear. That car started every morning even after sitting in minus 30's temps all night. My dads 53 chevy pickup failed to start more than once, even though it was in the garage.

Missy, what's the birth day for white bear's new dog?

He's already planning for the dog's 1st birthday party, but he needs a day to mark on the calendar.

I am not sure when the puppy was born, I will ask when I see the previous owner. Things with the new pup must be going well huh? What did they decide to name it? Not Ben right, hope not anyway. laugh

I am out of order until further notice. My "stupid people" filter needs cleaning and my "give a damn" batteries have run out.

After you go down the road a bit the warm up. You don't have to go very far before it's fine.

I start my 77 ford pickup with the clutch in, I let it run for a while before i dare let the clutch out and load the engine with the drag of that heavy cold gear oil. The truck actually rolls forward with the transmission in neutral when the gear oil is cold. If I really want to make things easier rolling down the road after an extreme cold start I'll put the transfer case in neutral, put the transmission in second gear and let the clutch out. This way the engine can spin that transmission all the way through it's output shaft and loosen up that oil before I try to go anywhere. And the truck won't go anywhere because the t-case is in neutral.

I do the same with the plow truck.
