Walked out side this morning and found a dead Robin right out side the garage door. Yes. I said Robin. January 24th. In Minnesota. -17* and a freakin ROBIN is / was hanging around. That dang Robin ain't got no durn bidness being up in these here parts.

I wonder if it is the mentally challenged Robin that has showed up two years in a row to attack our patio door over and over and over again all summer long? Would get so bad that you couldn't even see through it anymore because that igit had the glass so marked up.

So I have a heated garage. Love it. Keep it at 50. Problem is, in this cold when you go out you have a cab full of warmer air (50 degrees) which holds more moisture. So you park your truck for a few hours outside and the cab cools down resulting in frost on the INSIDE of your windshield! The wife had to drive home in the van the other day with every window frosted up terrible. Luckily she was only down the road at the neighbors. Pretty funny looking really.

But we have no snakes around here these days and the mosquitos are manageable.

Check the humidity level in your house.

Sometimes newer houses are so tight that you drag that humidity into your car in your clothing.

We used to deal with that in the winter until I got the humidity in my house under control.

My shop is at 50 degrees right now and we go out of that heat with our trucks into -20, -30 with no frosting problems like that.

We used to have that prob though.

humidity is at 20% right now in my house.

My gosh it is sooo cold here.I got up this morning and it was 31 degrees outside.Whatever will I do? How can I make it thru the day with the temps forecast for lowering temps all day? It's supposed to get down to an ultra bone chilling 28 degrees by this afternoon and the prospect of light snow drizzles is on the tv.(giggle, snort)
I may even have to (shudder) turn on the heater in the car today.I wonder if I remember how to do that or even remember where the heater controls are.
Have a great day people.I'm going to find me a blanket to wrap around me all day.

We are right at 0*

Like Dave said. That is a neutral temp. Kind of a strange temp actually. I'm not sure how to dress for it. Should I wear my Big Jelly cat woman suit under my work clothes? Or should I just wear normal work clothes sans cat woman suit?

I wish it would just go to 1*

Roody7,
What happens if it goes to 1....then by some weird circumstance, it doubles and goes to 2? You will not be prepared for a doubling of the temperature. 1 is a very dangerous temperature in my opinion.

ND, I believe we do have a humidity problem. Because of the warm garage, the snow melts on to the floor and goes to the drain. But in the meantime, a wet floor produces humidity. I have my exhaust fan running all the time i have a wet floor, but it still happens. Guess I just have to live with it.

Your house and garage are pretty new. It could be from the concrete garage floor.

IIRC, you have some type of hydronic heat in there too? It could also be that the contractor put a vapor barrier under the conc. slab and your moisture isn't going into the ground. It sounds back-asswards, but it happens. A real possibilty since you live in sand country (assuming since you live near a lake).

most of the time it when there is water on the floor from the vehicles. It just takes a little while to get rid of that even with the in-floor heat and it results in high humidity at 50 degrees. then outside and it cools down and I am surprised it hasnt started to rain or snow in the cab! Yep, I live on a lake.

A couple of ceiling fans in the garage might help too
