Jim, you varmint!!! You remind me of my cousin at home in Nelson, he is actually my eldest cousin's eldest son, now 52. He is a large and althletic man, played "pro" hockey and looks 32 or even younger. He LOVES to hunt and uses a tang safety Ruger .338WM, one of a pair I had customized 30ish years back. The hardhuntin' young guy, has a PILE of HUGE elk racks, plus some moose, RM Goat and has shot three Grizzlies....his kids ATE all of the bear meat, too, my influence here. You, are getting some FINE elk racks up there and your home is not too shabby, either. My wife and I were about to move to the Charlottes-Haida Gwaii,or, Fort Nelly, in 2001, we had good job offers in both places, but, she came down with cervical cancer and it was best to stay here and in the position she had.....I would have LOVED to move north for good and then spend weeks at a time in the Tuchodi, Gatho, Kluachesi and so on.....well, [bleep] happens..... Do you run any horses of your own on your place or is it more hassle than it is worth to you?

Great pictures. You live in a beautiful area in a handsome log home. L.W.

CanuckShooter; Thanks for the thread and fine photos it has been and no doubt will continue to produce. I never tire of looking at the wonderful and diverse scenery in our home province. I'll begin with an apology that most of my offerings have been posted already, but here goes a few anyway. This is the view from the little bench behind our house. We're looking south onto Vaseaux Lake, with the famed and much photographed McKintyre Bluff at the right. A quick link to our local FN story attached to McKintyre Bluff. http://osoyoosmuseum.ca/index.php/a...nations/2011-08-09-01-47-29.html?start=7We're a bit further up the mountain now, looking north onto Skaha Lake. Further still up the same mountain, we're now looking southwest and down Dutton Creek Canyon. McKintyre Bluff is located at the bottom left of the photo - unseen, but that's where we're at now. The burn on the left is the Vaseaux Burn which caused our family to be evacuated. This chunk of the mountain behind our house has been generous to our family over the years, both with game sightings and game taken home. Our eldest daughter's best mulie - from the Vaseaux Burn. Youngest daughter's best whitetail - just a tad north of the last photo. My Okanagan spike fork moose - same immediate neighborhood. Another scenery shot - fall sunset with a forest fire in the area adding the lighting effects. [img:center] http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x83/BC30cal/Amy1056.jpg[/img] A scan of some California's - same mountain, but back in the day before the die off we had in '96. I'll note they are coming back nicely now and we've seen some dandy rams in the last couple years but sadly haven't photographed them. [img:center] http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x83/BC30cal/scan0001-4.jpg[/img] Sunrise on a cold, still morning chasing whitetail and bull moose. [img:center] http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x83/BC30cal/Amy1450.jpg[/img] Anyway, I'll try to get a few more up this evening - hopefully after the Saturday chores are a bit more completed. Thanks again for the thread CanuckShooter and all the best to you and yours. I hope you and any other folks looking in enjoyed our part of southern BC - thanks for looking all. Dwayne

This picture is very dear to me. I pray to God that it isn't the last but if it is, I would count it priceless. It was a great day, enjoyed with better people and it was long overdue. The buck was shot in the neck at just over 250yds with a .350 RM somewhere between Vernon and Nakusp. Or was it Nelson?... Never mind
