Getting all those angles to mate up so perfectly, esp on the octagon top, that's pretty incredible.

What will you use for a finish for this - poly or oil or, suppose an oil-based poly.

Well anyway, more photos as you go would be great. That is great work!

its getting just a natural danish oil finish on all of them.
I decided life would be easier if I used my own personal miter box to make that octagon top, because it is spot on. grin
its nice when you have tools that make it easy.well, relatively easy, anyway.

sounds like I may have to start doing some actual old fashioned hand (paper and pencil)drafting soon enough, though.

That is beautiful work Fluffy! What are the "compartments" inside the altar for?

Or is that a jig to hold everything true?

Those sandals must really suck in this sort of weather.

I know what you mean about tools you can really trust. But that sort of compound angle stuff takes more than just the perfect tool. Some real skill there.

the compartments are actually just supports for the top.the outside edge and insides are all the same level,(see the stick across the corner)to support the top, which has to have 5 smallcrosses and an altar stone inletted, and a "relic"boxed inside .A relic is a religious artifact, sometimes a bone fragment from a saint.

All these items are designed to be way overbuilt.
guess they want them to last for awhile.

turns out the octagon top will be mostly covered, its 24" inches
diameter, the tabernacle is 16".I probably could have used a sharp rock to do it. grin
