Looking at getting a 4x12x40 scope for my 17hmr but don't wanna break the bank on something I'm not gonna be shooting much. Looked at the Redfied Revolution and the Vortex Diamondback. Anyone own either of these or another brand in that price range they would suggest?

I have a Redfield Revolution on a 17HMR and have been well satisfied with it. However they have increased the price since I bought mine and there may be better options now. A used VX-I or a Rifleman may work just as well and be cheaper.

Another vote for the Redfield revolution. I had one and was very pleased with it. Great value

Another vote for the Redfield, nice to know it's backed by Leupold too.

remington,
When I click on the 24hour icon on the desk top it goes to the opics forum. I keep seeing this thread so I finally will give my suggestion: For sure if I wanted a scope that topped out at 12X I would get a 3-12X40 Tasco. Probably less than a "C" note. I doubt you will be able to tell any difference in it and the ones already suggested. I have never had one fail in any way.
I certainly can't say that for Burris or Redfield on rifles and about half dozen other brands on my .454.

I've never used one and they are certainly on the cheap side but SWFA has BSA's on close out at 50% off right now.

Ringman, I'm not above a Tasco I have one on my 10/22. Where could I find a 3x12 at? I have seen a 16 power tasco on websites for sale but thats higher magnification than I'm after. I have a Bushnell Banner on it right now and it works fine just want more power when target shooting....my eyes arent that great apparently. I can barely see a red center bullseye at 100yds with a 9x scope.....Dont get me wrong I can see it but not like I want to for target shooting anyway.
