Anyone know the weight of a 1999 Chevy Silverado z71 extended cab with 5.3?

Drive to the granery/scrap yard. Couple bucks gets u the weight. Sometimes they don't even charge ya just to run across for a second. I used to use the scrap yard a few miles from my house to pre-weigh pullin' tractors. He didn't even charge me just had to go in and BS for a minute. One day I parked on the scale and walked inside and he said "Damn your a big boy ain't ya!" LOL

About 6,000 lbs plus or minus a little. It is essentially the same frame and chasis as my 5.3L powered Avalanche which comes in at 6,100 lbs on the local dump station scales.

Curious as to why you want the info, though.

Warning, the dash clusters on the GM trucks of these years is pure crapola, and they go out a lot. The good news is that there is a place in Utah that will re build them for only $200.00 including shipping both ways and when they are done the new parts are far BETTER than OEM and should last a long time.

Those are the max weight ratings like the GVWR, not the actual weight of the truck unloaded.

Hmmmmm. It looks sorta like my Avalanche weighs MORE than a similar pickup truck from that era. Unless maybe the pickups being weighed and quoted are 2WD, which would eliminate the front drive gear and transfer case etc. Another explanation might be that the local dump station scales are way off.

The curb weight can range from 3,923 to 4,442 according to this link. Curb weight

I had a 1997 Z71 with an extended cab. The weight of the truck with me in it was 4,630 with a full tank of fuel on Cat Scales. This should put the truck right at the 4,442 figure give or take.

If you're any good (or even halfway good) at running a soldering iron, $30 worth of motors and 30 minutes time will do the same thing. Stepper motors sold on ebay from a guy out of Minnesota.

Avalanche weighs more. My 05 crew cab z71 was 5450 pounds without driver with a full tank of gas across the Cat scales. My diesel is around 8,200 pounds full of 4 people, + camper shell + a small amount of stuff in the back.

Well, boys, I wanted to know the weight of the Chevy to compare with the '06 Tundra. The Chevy has 270 HP and the Tundra has 271 HP so it looks like the Tundra will have more power to weight.

I found one on the web after spending several hours on my uncomfortable piano stool in front of the computer. It is a double cab, 4X4, automatic with a page and a half of options. It will be delivered to Ashland, Oregon on Thursday about noon. (I didn't want to drive to Reno.)

This means my '99 Silverado z71 is now for sale.
