1. It makes for great bathroom reading.
2. Among caliber groups there's not a lot of difference between cartridges.
3. JB is on page 232.
Point number 2 (no pun intended) was more of a surprise that I expected. If we are to believe the posted numbers, there's really not much difference between many cartridges. A few ft/sec here and there, but for the most part you might as well shoot one as the other.
For example, consider the 7mm-08 compared to the .270 Win. If you like the 140 grain NP out of your .270, you're looking at high 2900 to maybe 3000 ft/sec MV with 53 to 58 grains of powder. Looking at the 7mm-08 with a 140 grain NP, you get high 2800 to low/mid 2900 ft/sec with 41 to 49 grains of powder.
Nothing on earth will know the difference of 100 ft/sec.
There are many, many more comparisons that suggest the same result. Look at the 7mm-08 v. the .264 Win Mag. Sure, it's fun to talk about but the difference doesn't amount to a hill of beans.
This fact is actually comforting to me, since I can be confident that whatever I choose (shy of chasing grizz with a .223) I'm making a good choice.

you will find any cal. up front a 308 weather 243,7mm,338,and 358 all do very well the 358 is the most all around round with a reloading kit

Just tighten up the twist and use a heavy bullet.

The 280 Remington is overbore.
The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.

And for those of us who shoot about everything at 0 to 200 yds the ballistic tables are refreshing as well. Sight in about 90% of deer/antelope/elk cartridges at 200 yds with any appropriate bullet and you'll be 1" to 2" high at 100 and around the same low at 225ish.
