I normally don't post much but yesterday my daughters unit ripped out of FOB Sharana Afghanistan and is headed home after a tough deployment. I cried tears of joy last night when I heard the news - wainting helplessly and praying for her safety was the most difficult time of my life. They had 5 Fallen Angels during this deployment. Go WAR EAGLES! Having a loved one downrange is nerve racking. Thank you for raising a young women that stepped up to serve and thank her form me for her service when she gets home. FOB life is hell; mortars and rockets all the damn time, occasional attacks via small arms fire, VBIEDs outside the compound and convoys outside the compound are met with ambushes, RPGs and small arms fire. Once you pass that, you have a real good chance of being blown the [bleep] up by an IED. It's not a happy life.

Tell her Thank You from my family. I have a daughter in the army and think about her in your daughter's situation. So far she has not been called on to go. Good on your daughter for serving. Very glad she is coming home.
