New to me...at least. Bought this gun used in an A-3 and wanted to make it a hunting gun. So I sold the A-3 and just got this Remington Hunter from McMillan. Screwed it together and took it out today to put it through its paces at 100 yards and I likey. 700 Action Hart #4 McM Remington Hunter Jewell 3-12x42 Precision Hunter

Well this is one thing I don't dig about the rifle. It is 28". I had thought about spinning it off and rebarreling...until I shot it. It won't make much difference considering my style of hunting. Still, its silly long. Have you ever noticed how much longer 4" looks on a gun barrel compared to a tape measure?

Yes I have. Actually for laying prone all day shooting I could like a long barrel but for hunting I like short barrels better.
Still, I like it.

Thanks for all the nice words guys. John, this Hart is an 8 twist. And Roger, the Mississippi flopears had best beware.

If you ever decide to flip that barrel and it isn't shot out let me know I might have a use for it.

I cut the barrel back 4-5 inches so I'm into the fluting, then I would cerakote the first inch of the muzzle in either pink or brown. depends on what color starfish cranks you up...

Tanner, I didn't. Ordered it with pillars, but I haven't skimmed it. I had to do a tad of sanding to make sure all was free floated. I have several McMs that are not glass bedded that shoot awesome. Tim

Cool! I'll likely bed my 243 Ackley build coming to life right now before I ever shoot it, but I'm tempted to see how it'd do if I didn't.

They don't all shoot without it. Just got a brand spanking new tub of Marine-Tex, so this one might get it yet.
