After much consternation and advice from several forums, I finally pulled the trigger and bought the ruger 1911. I wasn't interested in GPS accuracy but wanted a reasonably priced 1911 to plink with. The one thing I needed to do was put one in my hand. I have fairly large hands but when I picked one up it just melted into my hand and it's just plain pretty. I've shown it to a few of my partners and three of them are panting for one of their own. Now I just have to go give it a try.

I have purchased one Its heavy being a full steel gun most of my other 1911s are alloy Of course gives it advantages Here in MI they were pretty tough to get but those that I value their opinion had my attention,(particularly one of the managers of Williams Gun site in Davison MI he always is straight with me. His review was off the charts) good solid shooters other Colt fans that said there is something pretty dam good here. Longer range accuracy seems to be a common comment
I think for the bucks its tons of gun

Absolutely. I was reading a post in the ruger forum done in 2011 when they were introduced and in it the author says that "EVERY" part is "Made in America".

Saw a couple of these tonight in the local Cabelas. They wanted $769 for a full size, $799 for the 4". Nice looking pistols.

Tom

Saw a couple of these tonight in the local Cabelas. They wanted $769 for a full size, $799 for the 4". Nice looking pistols. I've heard of prices across the board on these. The only cabelas in the state quoted me $799 but I was able to snatch one up elswhere for $669 which I think was a heck of a deal considering what the prices of everything else have done. A friend of mine called the same LGS two days later and picked up their last one for $679 so the prices are creeping up.

They've been $699 consistently in my neck of the woods; same with the Commander length SR 1911's.

I have only seen one in about a years time and that was last week at a gunshot. They did not last long even before the current crunch. I like it and I like the Remington .

As I have stated several times, I got both of mine for employee pricing. Id gladly full price for them as they are sweet guns. (well, I guess I can only talk about my full size, I just placed the order for the commander)

Good bang for the buck. I have tweaked on a buds gun a little and it is a good shooter. I made a notch in his slide stop to help prevent idiot marks on assembly and added a little tension to his right leaf spring to stop the grip safety from ratteling around. He beats on his in IDPA a pinch too. I told him to run it wet as opposed to his SR series guns and it will be happy.
What does it mean when the primers fall out of the case?
