Hello, I have a savage takedown that is not marked with the 99 sav on top of the receiver in front of the bolt behind the sight where one would normally drill the holes for a front scope mount. It is a full threaded takedown that looks like a model G with a perchbelly stock. I cannot find Model 1899 anywhere either. Is it a mistake by the factory or was this common to not have a model designation? Also the rifle has two holes about 6 cm apart on the side for a scope mount. Where could I find a side mount so I do not have to drill more holes in the rifle, especially where this lack of normal stamping is at. Thanks.

I do not know how to use the search so is and I gave my book by Murray to my uncle. Is it normal for a 99/1899 to have no model designation? Thanks for your time and consideration. I do not know how to put them cool sayings under neath my post, but if you are not part of the solution: your'e precipitate.

Side mount would probably be a T-7... not going ot be super easy to find not already attached to a rifle...actually, I think I have one if you decide to go that route.
Yep the trigger is "checked" it looks like no other trigger I got. How do these lightfoots hold up in a saddel scabbard? I think I would like a side mount that has a 1 inch scope capability and puts the scope over the center of the rifle and fits the holes already in the rifle.

Here is my Savage 250-3000 I would like to mount a scope preferably a 3x9x40 over the center of this rifle, using the holes already in the gun. Does anyone have one or know where I can get one? Thanks

What model is this Savage I bought in ND, its a 303? What is a good way to fix this finish or should it be? Has anyone ever seen this bag? PS This gun came with 2boxes of Remington Kleanbore Express cartridges, priced at $4.25 in grease pencil. There was 39 intact cartridges in the boxes.

I suspect this Savage has had a replacement stock, any ideas where it came from? It looks like wonderful checkering. The Lyman peep on this gun is bent, the gun shoots to the right about 10 inches at 80 yards. Any ideas how to fix this sight.

The rifle as built was probably a Model 1899 250-3000. That is the model name. As shipped from the factory it would have had a pistol grip buttstock. Yours has been changed out or recontoured.
Most period correct side mounts won't accomodate a 1 inch scope, if period correct matters. The mount that Lightfoot has mounts over the action in line with the bore. Similar to a Stith mount. If you are going to mount a scope, don't worry about the tang sight or you can shim it.
