Howdy Im new to this forum, got recommended from the snipershide forum. I was wondering has anybody messed with the 90 gr blitzkings and 7828? If so how does it perform and what would be a good jump point to start building loads? Thanks in advance, any advice is good because I am still young in the world of reloading.

gi,
I haven't loaded the BK in the cart, but wouldn't treat it differently than other CNC data due to it's thin jacket. I would personally load some at 73-74 and see what gave the best accuracy.
COAL IME hasn't really made a huge impact in Wby chambers with freebore. Manuals tend to linger from 3.15-3.25, I usually just run 3.25 as it hasn't made a big difference like loading for traditional carts and throats. Always a good idea to have at least a cal length of bearing surface when talking a repeater IMO.

I'm not sure that the blitzking bullets won't fall apart in flight from the 257 bee velocity. May check with seirra. They damn sure will not penatrate very far on the target. Why not just shoot the 100 gr sbt. That has been a tried and true bullet for me in the 257 weatherby.

I thought about that as well DLS, but they seem to handle the 22-250 quite well for me and that shouldn't be a terrible difference in speed depending on bbl. It certainly would make a splatter out of little critters.

With wby speeds, (especially at 90 grains) I would highly recommend a bonded bullet, such as a 80 or 100 TTSX.

I recommend you read up! A 90 grain bullet out of a .257 Wea is going to fly around 3800 fps. That's smoking fast, and beyond what bullet manufacturers design their bullets for if you are shooting at critters. You'll want Barnes tsx, ttsx, or similar. Realize that little snubby bullets like that will give you great velocity, but will run out of oomph before longer, heavier bullets because of ballistic coefficient (think light wiffle ball vs heavier football, same arm speed and distance they will travel)

I too think one would get very explosive results with 90 grain slugs. Fine if blowing up varmits, but a bit ugly with groceries.
I'll be interested in your 7828 results. Mine does OK with Reloader 22, but I'm planning on a little research with 7828 when I get this batch of cartridges shot up. 7828 was a laying on of the hands for 240 Weatherby.
