After much thought and temptation by filthy lucre, I have decided to put my Marlin 1894 16" .45 Colt up for sale on gunbroker. Got 4 custom stocks in the works and can use the money.

It's a great little rifle, hope it goes to someone who will appreciate it.

Heck, that ought to go a long way toward some stock work. I have an 1894 Limited 44 Mag in the same configuration that does not see a whole lot of use that I am tempted to do the same with.

It did. grin

In the past few years I have learned the wisdom of hanging onto firearms not currently being used since I will want them again sooner or later. But having looked at what a prior sale of this model fetched on gunbroker - a big pile of money, far more than I ever would have guessed - and looking at the upcoming stock bill, the temptation was too great.

They are unique little rifles and about as perfectly suited to fast "thumping" as one can get, so it was a sacrifice to know I will almost certainly never see another in my possession, but the prices for used JM Marlins are going through the roof. They may or may not be increased by the current panic buying, I haven't been keeping track enough to know for sure. But if you are thinking of selling yours the market is there. Mine had noticeable flaws and I still more than doubled my money on it in 3 years.

$1215.00 - you can click on the link in the first post above to see the final price. Not what my greedy little mind had hoped but more than I expected.

A NIB stainless steel version sold for $1985.00, that's one thousand nine hundred and eighty five dollars for a modern Marlin lever action. shocked That's what prompted me to see what mine would bring. Here's the link to that one.

A Marlin Cowboy Limited recently sold for $1430.00. It's crazy out there, but since the check just cleared my bank yesterday I'm not complaining too much... grin
