I use Wildcats on my lightweight M7s. The blank comes around 17oz, finishs around 19oz. However I dont think Stuart offers the M7 with a blind mag.

Hunters edge was my choice. Went BDL on mine to hold three down. PTG will have what you need for trigger guard/ bottom metal.

I have a hightect stock that I have completely finished. It weights 22.6oz with pad and sling studs. Brownells stop showing model 7's in their #65 catalog, you can call them direct. There is a fair amount of work to finish one.

I will build mine from balsa carbon fiber laminate. PT&G does make aluminum trigger guards. I will probably go BDL bottom metal as I'm thinking I would have to make a magazine box for a balsa carbon fiber stock. BDL bottom metal in aluminum don't weigh much.

The MPI's are very light stocks.

i diddn't weigh it by itself, but with a 20" 7mm-08 barreled action and leupold 1.5-5x M1 in Talley LWs it is a shade over 6#.

I have built 3 rifles with High Tech Specialties [Bansner] stocks. Bordon Rimrock stocks are no longer available to me.

I have done two 98 Mausers and one Rem700.

That is a slow cheap route.
I don't what it cost Butch to put Carbon fiber on Balsa, but I am sure he is much higher skill than me.

It costs $200+.

I make my own pillars, bed them, and paint the stock.
I epoxy a wooden plug in the butt for fastening a Limbsaver recoil pad.

I like to cure the Devcon Steel putty in a blanket with a heating pad.

If I build a rifle with scope, sling, bi pod, rear bag, and ammo that weighs under 9 pounds, that meant i used a 22" feather weight taper barrel.

I would rather the total is right at 10 pounds with a #3 taper 26" or 24" barrel.

Hunting long range and wanting an ultra light rifle is a trade off.

i've got a couple of brown precision pounders like the shape and feel of the stock. i've got a basner sheephunter that was a lot less work and less money.
