I have BLR 81 in the safe, a 243. It was the first rifle I purchased on my own, at 13, and was the rifle I used for my first few deer. Now days it has become a safe queen, mainly because I am not to wild about the combination of caliber and rifle. It is a short quick handling rifle that seems to me to be better suited as a 338 Federal or a 358 Win. Anyone know if it would be worth it to get it rebored to one of those cartridges?

It'll cost you $250.00 plus shipping for the rebore , whichever Cal. you choose . My choice would be .338 Fed. but I already have a .358 . Whether it's worth it or not is pretty much up to you , not much point in safe queens though !

I have never regretted having my pre '64 Winchester M/70 rebored to .35 Whelen. Nice thing about the .35 caliber is the wide selection of bullets available. I shoot .357 pistol bullets in my Whelen for plinking loads, buy them in bulk as blemished when the reloading suppliers have them on special. Load them over a light charge of Red Dot or Unique, fun to shoot and cheap as you'll get to shoot your hunting rifle during the off season.

He doesn't specifically list the BLR but I was happy with JES rebore.

Make sure your barrel is thick enough to go up that many cals.
