Thinkin about selling this. Serial number is 45xxxx. No major rust or gouges. It has been used. The top of the bolt handle has been sanded a little to clear a scope. Any help is appreciated.

Cant see enough of the gun to give an honest opinion. Anything altering will bring down the price. Need more pictures. Still an awesome gun. Its a 243, which is a plus.
I will never understand why somebody would alter a steel bolt handle, which is very time consuming, vs changing the mounts or the scope, which is quick.
Good luck.

Thanks. I think with the amount that has been taken off, someone could do just a little blending and re blue it and you would never tell.

Run it with no reserve on Gunbroker with good outside pictures with good lighting and I will bet my left nut it breaks 1000. This is not a opinion, you can not find a featherwright 243! On Gunbroker that has not been run over by a truckfor less than a grand. I don't know many things, I do however know Gunbroker prices.

Then you would be better off selling to someone who doesn't know what they are looking for. $1500 for a decent rifle, yours somewhere less, but agree probably $1000-1300

Cool. I got a really nice one with the steel buttplate. I like the 243. Sounds like a rocket when it goes off.

I meant If someone wanted to fix it they could fix the bolt. I wouldn't have it fixed to hide the bolt.

Here is another thing. Depends where you live. Might be better to go to auction. I remember pre-64s being somewhat cheaper in NC, when I lived there. Bought one a few years ago in the parking lot at the Raleigh gun show for $500. 85% std 30-06, but 100% original.

I actually bought a 1967 superposed at the same auction. Don't think I have room for another.

The bolt alteration just dried up the collector value. It would likely bring more by parting out than selling as a whole, but I'd hate to see that happen.
The barrel and action together should bring $7-800, the stock about $250, IMO.

How much can you buy a new bolt for? It dosen't matter what a new bolt costs it is still altered or has parts that is not original. if you don't tell the buyer than you are cheating him. with the nicks on that rifle it is far from a $1000.00 dollar gun, like I said before would you willing to pay that much for it?

Hubert. Why don't you go dump on someone else's thread. If its not worth that much to you, fine. And stop trying to jump to conclusions about me cheating a potential buyer. I actually paid a very stout price for it. Not quite $1000 but I'm sure someone might value it at that. I have a GB account but would rather sell it to someone on here that wants it.
BTW if anyone wants it for $825 shipped. I'll take that for it.

if i was in to pre 64s i would snag it for $1000, 24hourcampfire has a lot of good members, however they are very critcal of certain things that do not devalue a gun any where near as much as they say. A pre 64 243 featherweight ran on gunbroker three weeks ago with a stainless replacement barrel and an extra drilled hole in the bridge and did $755 plus $40 shipping, yours will bring a couple hundred more than that if you post it with good pics in good lighting and start it at .01 and let it run its course. There is a reason I have Hubie on ignore, he is an idiot.
