Hi,I recently got a Mauser 1891 Argentine 7.65x35 and going to scope it. I am going to mount the scope forward of the reciever using the rear sight for a scope base to keep from drilling and tapping the reciever.
I have no experience with forward mounted optics and need some experienced advice as to which type of optic would best suit my purpose which is to use the rifle for deer hunting with say out to 150-200 Yard shots.
Thanks
Craig

I have a leup IER 2.5x on my scout rifle. Damn fine scope. The custom shop will do a 1.5-4 variable with a german #1 which would be a nice option.

EVERYBODY is pro-gun, some just don't know it. When an anti-gun person is in trouble, the first thing they do is call 911 and demand that they send somebody with a gun!

I just did a check and seems as though eye relief will need to be somewhwere around 10 1-2 to 12 inches depending on where I mount the scope .
I am used to using a Leupold 4x with regular duplex on my other hunting rifles with convential scope mounting.
