what kind of scope are you Guys using on your muzzleloaders, i just bought a T/C Omega in 50 cal and want to put a scope on it......any suggestions??????????? thanks

Nikon Prostaff 2-7x32 comes to mind.

I have a Nikon 2x7 on my .270 BDL, excellent scope in MHO. I don't buy into the marketing ploy of "muzleloader scopes" or ".22 scopes" for that matter. Objectives and maginfication are too small. Any good scope with enough magnification for your desired use will work though.

Personally I like a lot of light entering a MZ scope due to the "time of season" it is being used on whitetails. Late season here has the deer a little spooky and pushed further into darkness in their activity. Shots are often very early or very late. A large objective is nice for this. I have used a Simmons 44 mag 3x10 on my .50 for a lot of years. It was real reasonably priced. Been trouble free on that rifle. I can see well close and out at max range too. It is easy to shoot quick with. YMMV.

Just my .02 though....

I use a Nikon Monarch 4x40 on my Encore. I took 4 deer with it this year and I've got to say it is a very bright, clear scope. Depends on if you liked fixed scopes or not. I love em, but that's your choice.

Simmons Whitetail Expedition in 1.5-6X32. Solid, solid scope for the money. 2 Knights and 1 Optima Pro has them. Right on the money for each. You can find them for $85-$100 if you look hard enough(just look on ebay or gunbroker). Make double sure it is the "Whitetail Expedition" and not the Whitetail Classic. Its all that you will ever need for a muzzleloader. If you spend more than that on something else, IMO, you are wasting your money.

Pentax Lightseeker 1.75-6x is absolutely perfect on my Knight Wolverine.

I use a Leupold M8 2.5x20 on my MK-85.

If you live in a state where a good part of your hunting is going to be with a muzzleloader (like Oklahoma) why shouldn't your front-stuffer have just as good a scope as your other guns?
I have an older Leupy 1.75-6 Short tube on my TC Black Diamond. I've killed more deer with that combo than any other single one of my other rifles. The only disadvantage for some muzzleloader scopes is that on some designs (like the Black Diamond) the blast from the muzzle cap scours the finish off the bottom of the scope. Oh well as the previous poster said "Their ain't such a thing as a free lunch".....................dj
