The mod is to trim the magazine down to 3 rounds and remachine the bottom metal. This essentially leaves the magazine flush, instead of sticking below the rifle.

Let it hang down.

It be fugly but it works just fine. I've got 527s in 204 and 22 Horndog and am real happy with them.

I don't think it looks bad, the reduced capacity A1 model looks worse than the standard model to my eye.

I like the way my 527 American looks with the 5 round mag but maybe i'm weird. I bought the gun to be my walking varminter set up due to it's weight and balance I guess I never thought about shaving a few ounces off of it but cutting the mag down.

My 527 American is light enough that I don;t mind the extendd mag. It is also my walking varminter and the weight and accuracy were the reasons I bought it. My son also used it to take his javelina.

The 527 is one of my new rifles that is a all time #1 pick light pulls up nice and shoots the balls.

For the record,, it does indeed look like Roy's changed his web-site to say two rnds.
He claimed three back when I had mine done but it really functioned better with two, which was fine with me.
However,, after a couple years of use it now functions fine with three. Don't know if the spring relaxed a little or the feed lips smoothed up or what, but the older it gets the better it works.

Also,,, I didn't do the mod to save weight.
I did it because on my American model the balance point is right at the magazine which is cumbersome for one handed carry, and like most here, mine's a walking varminter so I carry all sorts of ways.

I also think it looks better.
