My wife was over at the coast last year with our girls and saw a couple of guys fishing for crabs. She was all excited telling me about how they were sitting there with their beers in one cooler, crabs in another and having a great time hauling in more. Now, I understand this isn't the most productive way to crab, but my wife wants to do it this way and who am I to argue?
Our three daughters are going on a trip with my folks at the end of March. The wife and I are going to load up the old crew cab and head over to the coast and give it a shot. I've got to get busy and build a sleeping platform in the bed so we don't have to worry about a tent.
I could use some helpful tips from anyone that has them. Not sure what to use for bait. Not sure how many snares to take. Etc.

I've researched sleep in truck-bed rigs and can post a whole lot of different setups if you would like.
Crab fishin' not so much, but plan to do it in the future. If you need someone to help you drink beer though i'm your man!
The factory of the future will have only two employees, a man and a dog. The man will be there to feed the dog. The dog will be there to keep the man from touching the equipment. WARREN G. BENNIS
Thanks for the reply George. I was planning on a custom roll out box like the Weatherguard Pack Rat, but that'll be a while (cha-ching!). I'm thinking some plywood and 2x4s is gonna have to suffice.
As for the beer, I'll send you anything my wife doesn't drink.

Kinda cool, but what I have in mind will allow storage underneath unlike those blow up beds. As far as the tents, I'd rather not worry about setting one up. Just find a flat spot to park and crawl in the back.

The way we used to catch blue crabs in Louisiana was to drive a nail in the edge of the warf and tie some nylon string to the nail that will sit on the bottom. Then tie a chicken neck on good and tight and wait for the string to move or be pulled tight. Have a net handy and just slowly pull the string in until the crab is visible and net the crab. You have to pull the crab in slow or else it will let go of the bait. A lot like this video.
