Just put a Skinner peep sigh on my 94-22 mag.

It's shooting About 6 inches high at 30 yards.

Old sight is aprox. .330 high.

Am thinking about .450 high MIGHT do it????

Any way to figure this ????

Hate to have to buy a BUNCH of front sights to get the right one.

I know that Skinner makes a tall post front, that you "file to fit" but want a bead.

THANKS!!!!!! Virgil B.

Virgil, This will get you close:

For example:

Distance to target = 100 yds
Point of Impact = 15" higher than Point of Aim
Length from rear sight to front sight = 24"

Height to ADD to front sight = 24" times 15" divided by 100yds (ie 100 times 36in/yd)

= 24*15/100/36 = 0.10" (or just under 1/8")

Just substitute your numbers.

Thanks Ray!

Didn't get any instructions with my Skinner peep sight, but read a test report by John Taffen that explained adjustments.

NOW, I can "fine tune" after I get the correct front sight.

I get just over .080 with Ray's formula.

22" between sights.

Total height; .410

Tried another "formula" on Gunsmithing and came up with .730 total height.

Ray's formula sounds closer to me.

Opinions please! Thanks!
