I realize my choices are not the same as everyomne else's so this is just for me if I had to!! But I am thankful I don't have to.

Anything 7 mm, save for the 7mm-08
Anything Weatherby, save for the .300
About half of the 22 centerfires
Ditto on the .308 Win, Dakotas, & Lazzeronis

25-284, 264 Win mag, 270 Win . . . . . . . .

Let see, what else will P*** some of these guys off . . . (grin).

OK, OK, How about the RUMs, SAUMs, WSSMs, the 270 and 7mm WSM.

I believe that the 300 WSM actually has merit, tho'.

6.5x284 'cause nobody makes a factory rifle for it I can afford.

280 Rem, 280 Ackley, and 7 Rem mag.

I think 280's fill a void that didn't exist, and if I need a magnum, it is going to be 30 or bigger. I think 7's are better in the 7-08, 7x57, and 284 Win rounds.

243 for me! Dump it!
I'd rather have a 250-3000 that would do the same thing with a little bigger bullet! or...if you don't like the 250, got to the 257 Roberts. Which replaces the 6mm Rem. ....

I need them all!!!!!

But any rifle that won't shoot out of the box you can keep! It's like buying a new car and then taking it to the shop to get it to run. How do you put up with it?

Any thing over 3100fps. No make that 2900fps. So loaded right, I like them all.

Bart have you ever had a 264.

No but...
I've been loading one for an old friend for about 15 years...
I also load a 264 for 2 buddies currently...
The 7Mag put it to bed for good reason(bullet selection/preformance)years ago...
Bart

I actually DID dump two 7 mags to get myself a 264 after seeing what my wife's 264 can do. That particular 264 became HERS by her seeing what it could do. If I need more I'll pack a 300 WM.

Could just about dump any rifle cartridge with "Remington" or "Ultra" in the name. Never seen a need for any 27 caliber or anything over .308 but under .375.

But, variety IS the spice of life, after all.

Well,

another topic/dead horse beat to death and then some. Some of y'all seem to actually mind it. This website is for hunters and outdoorsmen. Part of what we do is tireless debate of semi-intellectual topics. IMO, its what makes us unique. Don't get offended, and especially don't pretend there is any higher intellectual calling among outdoorsmen with respect to outdoors/hunting/fishing/shooting. Some don't like this round or that round...it only serves to really point out geographical, and demographic differences, none of which can be reconciled down to science lest it take some joy from our lives of lying, tale telling, or assuming of personal and individual identity afeild. If you shoot and love a 45-70, that draw is lost on me, surely as much as my love of the .280 is lost on you. But I can't honestly say it makes either wrong. If you shoot an animal with a 45-70 and I shoot one with a .280, and both fall dead, is there a warp in the time space fabric?

Be safe, let the little ones walk a year or 2 more.

Any cartridge that isn't chambered in a left handed bolt rifle made by one the big 3 rifle manufacturer: Rem, Win, and Ruger. If it's not made in soutpaw config, get rid of it.

anything called "magnum". If you live in prairy cointry I guess your choices would be different than a woodland hunter, which I am, so no magnums. Never saw a need for a magnum on this continent.

Any new whizBang magnum the industry creates to sell more rifles. IMO the best hunting calibers where made 50-110 years ago.

Now I know why you picked the name you picked!!

CJ .... actually just sent you and Layne an email. I picked the rifle up on Friday evening and tickled to death with it. The boolits and dies just arrived today so hopefully in the next couple weeks I'll get to the range with it and see how she does.

The only "short fat" with enough merit to save, IMO, would be the 270 WSM.

If I had to thin things down, the last to leave would likely be the old, the boring, the '06 throwing 30s. But I sure like my 6.5, my 7s, the 33s, 35s, 37s, even my 45-70s!

The one I am not shooting at the present. But please, do not cull too many of em; I may change my mind LOL. Ditto to 280, if only his handle was .308 :--)
