Does anyone have any experience with one? Thinking about getting one...I like the idea of being able to use 3 types of ammo...from mild to wild. thanks in advance...bearit..

If it came in a 6", especially with the half-length underlug, I'd be on it. A 4" barreled, 40+ ounce .32 doesn't have much purpose I can think of. I think the .327 was effectively dead on arrival (more because of poor choices of guns to house it in than any problem with ballistics) but still managed to use up the .32 mag's last gasp of air as well.

I owned one of the 3 inch SP101's for a short while. It was loud, but the recoil was negligible. Actually bought it for my wife.

I agree with Tom, in that the platform the cartridge was introduced in was a poor choice.

It would have been a HOOT to have in an 8 shot Smith L frame with a 4 inch barrel and a 6 inch barrel.

The nice thing is that you can shoot several different cartridges out of the .327 mag.

Ironically, .327 Federal ammo is about the only handgun ammo my LGS has in stock.

Thanks for the input....My idea is to have one for a in the house gun,not to carry or to travel with. I think that the wife could get used to it with the 32S&W Longs to target shoot as the recoil would have to be fairly minimal...even with the 32H&R's it probably wouldn't buck too badly given the weight of the gun....Is the Ruger GP100 a quality piece or will I have a sloppy junk gun after a couple of hundred rounds? Any and all opinion welcome...thanks in advance...bearit..

GP100 is a friggin' TANK. I don't think there is a more durable DA .357 'nless you happened on one of the early .357 Redhawks. That's not something I'd fret. smile Sometimes they need a little trigger / action cleanup though.

A friend is big into .32s and just had a cylinder for his Freedom Arms 97 added. The GP100 action can be worked out to be very smooth.... I am a S&W shooter myself but if left with just one gun in .357 it would be a GP100...

I picked one up that was chambered in 357 and it seemed pretty solid...haven't owned a handgun in years but the versatility of it has appeal to me....I would feel very safe being on right end of one of those....The fact that it's stainless and the grips seem non-slip is a big plus....bearit.....

As another said above, it's built like a tank and you simply will never wear one out; basically it's the little brother to the Ruger Alaskan. The .327 Fed is a potent round. I have a Freedom Arms revolver in .327F and it's a blast to shoot. The only issue might be trying to find brass for it..

If you can find the supplies to reload, or the ammo available on the shelves, go for it and enjoy!!

I like the idea, but it seems a little easier to just use a 357 chambering. Then you can go from very light, to top end if need be.

Yeah, but the downside is that none of them are relevant in the high-volume gun market. 32 S&W, 32 Long, 32 H&R, 327 Mag. They are all kind of cool in a way, but all are loony/niche rounds.

For most wheelgunners, the 357/38spl is so versatile that the .32 really never had a chance.

The 32 Auto seems to be the onlt 32 that has much traction today. Could be because the cartridge sorta matches the affordable/popular Kel-Tec pocket gun.

Better check again.. It's 'backordered', and every time I try to check on it, it's not been available.. Freedom Arms bought most of Starline's run of .327 Federal and a FA owner can buy it from them. But they won't sell brass to you unless you're a FA owner... (at least, that's what they told me a couple years ago)..

I wish they would make the SP101 327 Fed in 4" with good adjustable sights.

+1. I've got the 4.2" SP101 in 22lr and it would be just perfect in 327 Federal.

Yep. When I bought my GP100 I was leaning towards 327 but decided on 357 due to ammo availability. I made the wrong choice.
