I gotta say that mine were GI Joes and Johnny West. I've still got my original that Mom bought me at Woolworth's in Big Town, a mall in Mesquite, Texas. The GI Joe book I bought, not to collect the stuff but just to remember and look at all the cool accessories, some I had and some I didn't have, says mine is a 1964 model. I don't think it's quite that old, but maybe. I got another one later that had the dog tags you pulled on and then he talked. "Medic, get that stretcher up here!" Something about "Charlie".
Johnny West was a cowboy action figure. I got him and "Chief Cherokee". Dunno where my Mom and Dad picked them up. Maybe bought them out of the Sears wishbook. That or Monkey Wards. There were no Walmarts back then that I was aware of. Maybe some down in Arkansas, but if we were there, we were fishin', not buyin' toys.

Hot Wheels, and I let no one tough them. Some 30 years later I learned of a pipefitter in the refinery I was working that collected them, this around 1993 or so. Turned out he lived nearby so he invited me over for dinner and a peak. He went nuts over my 60 or 70 cars. He offered $500 and I said yes and used the money to pay off a layaway on a NIB XP-100 7mm BR. Everybody was happy.

A Crossman CO2 pellet gun, although it definitely wasn't a toy. Dad hated sparrows, and it was open season on them year 'round. As soon as I turned 10, I was allowed to hunt the woods behind the house for squirrels and rabbits, in season of course. I didn't single handedly keep the family fed or anything like that, but the tree rats and bunnies definitely had to worry about the pudgy kid sneaking up on them with a pocket full of pellets and a spare set of CO2 cyllinders.

Seemed like everybody had Hot Wheels and those orange race tracks.

Mine were pistols and rifles of any kind, but preferred military stuff. My parents were obliging.

Crosman BB/pellet gun. Rod and Reel Legos
I was much more dangerous with the first 2, but I wounded a lot of bare feet with the Legos.
4 out of 5 Great Lakes prefer Michigan.

I still own a number (a dozen at least) of old Daisy, Crosman, Sheridan, Webley and S&W BB/pellet rifles/handguns. A couple, my first from the early 70's. Some old stuff bought over the years. Some have needed to be resealed. They reside in Idaho and I shoot them every time I am there. Some have done fine with the squirrels too.

I might of had the same one. IIRC it said "this is charlie co, send reinforcements" does that jog the memory?

The first "handgun" deer I ever took was with the XP at 200 yards or so in West Texas using the Hornady 120 gr SSP? Years ago and I am many miles away from the data. I do know that the XP was an easy sub-1" piece, over many groups.

I liked the non-talking one better after awhile. Most of my pards had the fuzzy-headed ones with beards and such but my Dad was a WWII vet and thought they looked like hippies.
