Hot Wheels, and I let no one tough them. Some 30 years later I learned of a pipefitter in the refinery I was working that collected them, this around 1993 or so. Turned out he lived nearby so he invited me over for dinner and a peak. He went nuts over my 60 or 70 cars. He offered $500 and I said yes and used the money to pay off a layaway on a NIB XP-100 7mm BR. Everybody was happy. That is funny! I sold a collector case of 24 for $400 back in the 90's. My mother bhad them stashed away. How they survived my brother I will never know.

i had an erector set and lincoln logs but i used them to make other stuff, was constantly building something.
my red ryder was my constant companion. dad even built me a gunrack for it that hung over my headboard.
one time i tried to figure how many bb's went down that barrel. i remember several times relatives buying me those containers shaped like a milk carton with a pour spout and then i got a gift pack of a whole case of wrapped tubes with 500 in each. not counting the times i went to get reloads at the hardware store in town.
i had it way over 100,000 before i lost track. damn thing really held up. can you imagine toys lasting like that now??

I used to set up army men in the garden once fall came - the dried plants made a good jungle. I would make rock and dirt walls as well. The object was to get them all down with one loading of my Daisy 99. I would collect the BBs that I found in the dirt and reuse them.

don't forget the gasoline. I can remember going over to a friend's house and setting up elaborate ramps for our bikes, just like Evel Knieval. It was right out in the street in front of their house. We'd light stuff on fire in front of the ramps and then jump our bikes over the flames.

Mostly footballs, hockey sticks, baseball bats, and BB guns. Was never a huge toy fan. Did have some Tonkas, Matchbox cars, Evil Knievel, stuff when younger. And this guy:

My Davis SXS 16 gauge and Lee hand loader, some shot and primers. My VZ24 Mauser Sporter in 30-06 and my Lyman Spartan press, primers, some IMR 4320 and 125gr bullets and a field with woodchucks or a wood lot with whitetail... My Schwinn Typhoon. My fishing gear and a pot of nightcrawlers.
Nothing else really mattered.
With my brothers egging me on, I shot my rocking horse in the basement with a 22. Dad was not impressed at all.
Be safe and don't shoot rocking horses or your azz will hurt Patty

All these mentions of the trusty ol' BB gun have reminded me that my 6 YO boy has been asking me to take him out so he can shoot his BB gun. I gotta make that a priority this weekend! Making some memories.. Do it! They grow up fast !!!

I had all kinds of army men. I'd mix the Revolutionary War guys up with the green men and mow them down with rubber bands. Even at an early age I was thinking direct fire. My G.I. Joe stuff was awesome. I had the command center and the submarine. Kung-Foo grip baybeee.
