My wife bought me 2 African hunts at a Safari Club auction, but I'm unable to go.

The first hunt is with Kalahari Trophies, Namibia, www.kalaharitrophies.iway. It is for 2 hunters, 3 days hunting, 1 gemsbock and 1 springbock each. Additional days and animals may be purchased. Includes everything but airfare, tips and taxidermy. Stated value is $4160, asking $2500/obo. Bonus--includes $1000 taxidermy certificate for 1st time Africa hunter. Valid March-November, 2006.

The second hunt is with Progress Safaris, Namibia, www.progress-safaris.com. It is for 1 hunter and 1 non-hunter, 6 days, for kudu, cape hartebeest, and gray duiker. Additional days and animals may be added. Stated value is $4345, asking $2500/obo. Valid April, 2006 or later.

Any idea what 2 airline tickets to Namibia are going for these days? My daughter just checked and said it varies from 3k to 6k each. I would be interested but that would kill me...

You are right on the plane fare. Traveling is not cheap these days. Tickets are around 3K sometimes a bit less but you have to be real flexible. When I went to South Africa, I got them for a little cheaper in the 2,300 range. Normally you have to get a charter when you are there also which is another 1K.

We won't even talk about my last taxidermy bill from the animals I got in Africa. It was more than the whole flight and hunt combined.

I've replied to everyone who sent me a PM or posted here, so if someone doesn't get a message, try again!

I contacted Kathi, the travel agent on this board, she says she can get you to Namibia for +/- $2k, depending on the route and where you start from.

FWIW I met Mike Kibble of Progress Safari at a Griffin & Howe store here in Connecticut and watched his PowerPoint presentation of his offerings and was very impressed. If I recall correctly a very senior person within the G&H organization (in other words, someone who has done A LOT of hunting) had hunted with Mike in Namibia and been extremely pleased, and asked Mike to do a meet and greet with some G&H clients.

Someone's gonna get a real value with the Progress Safari hunt.

Progress just sent me the dates they have available. Oct and Nov, 2006, and March 1-15, 2007. Can anyone make it?
