Guys, a friend and I are building an AR. I want to build my own (floated) upper, mostly for punching paper at the range. I'm into accuracy. I'm not a fanatic, but I like accurate guns. Would be nice to be in a position to get a decent grouping at 200 yards.

I'm also practical.(I load my own and have both military and 223 brass available).

Would like to be able to shoot 223/5.56 rounds out of the same barrel. Have heard that you can do so quite accurately with the Wylde chambering.

Any comments?

Any brand of barrel or components, upper mid range that I might consider?

The Wylde is pretty much the standard for accurate .223 gasgun chambers. If you want a accurate barrel, there aren't a whole lotta other choices.

You can get button rifled barrels from about $210 to cut rifled barrels like Krieger at about $500. It's up to you, most of them shoot pretty well. I'd get a 7 or 8 twist to shoot both heavy & light bullets.

Thanks...it seems that Wylde is the way to go.

Any ideas on companies that make decent floated fore ends that won't break the bank?

use the Shilen AR Barrel

My next barrel will be from Black Hole.

White oak has a solid wylde barrel and it comes in a 1 in 8 twist.
