1949 Standard model, .30-06. It wears a Lyman 4X in vintage steel Redfield Jr mounts. My favorite .30-06. It groups Remington 180 grain PSP Core Lokts into nice 3 round clusters. I'd like to have one just like it in .270, but with a 6X Lyman. Bob
Should have pictures in a week or 2...I am getting inheriting my grandfathers Winchester Model 70 .222 Rem...the only remarks that i have seen were wrote about it were..Hinged floor plate,1973...

Oh yes, it's a keeper! I've loved M70s since I was a kid. I'm left-handed, but this one will stay after the lefty bolts disappear. I'd like to find another like it, in .270. I will, eventually. Bob

I am little embarrassed about posting a lousy polaroid pic, but this was my first Model 70 and 7x57. Lot of fond memories with that gun. I purchased it used in 1968 before I got drafted and did not get a chance to bloody it until after I was discharged. Over in far distance lands my mind would go to that rifle many times.
I purchased this custom stock about 2 years ago and recently found an XTR "European" FWT 6.5x55 at a gun show. It returned last week after finally getting bedded. It's a joy to handle, well balanced and a hair under 8lbs as pictured. I should have time to get it to the range tomorrow.
