I was eating venison roast yesterday and bit down on something hard. I dropped it on a plate and it went clank. It was a 6.5 140 grain sierra bullet. I was lucky and didn't damage a tooth or get cut. Ken

Ouch! Glad you didn't bust any grillework.
I've bitten into unplated buckshot while chowing on bear steak, but never chomped down on a jacketed bullet. Makes my teeth hurt thinking about it.

At least it didn't over-penetrate!
Dave Sticks and stones may break my bones ... but hollow-points expand on impact.

Under penetration - it has consequences.
Of course curiosity begs the questions:
1) retained weight?
2) shape of mushroom?
3) muzzle velocity?
4) distance at impact?
5) are you sure that deer is dead? (common belief that cup-and-core bullets simply don't kill what they're aimed at).

kinda hard to hurt your teeth with tinfoil

I trim away all the affected wound channel for just such an event.
I would not buy something that runs on any kind of primer given the possibility of primer shortages and even regulations. In fact, why not buy a flintlock? Really. Rocks aren't going away anytime soon.

I usually don't keep anything within 6 inches of the shock area when I process.
I don't like hair, blood-goo, bone splinters, bullet frags.
another reason I throw turkey carcasses off at the stop sign near mile's house

You misunderstood. That's NOT what is meant by "Venison with Mushroom."

Yeah.. I'm trying to understand how whoever cut up that deer missed the hole that traveled through - unless it's an old bullet the deer was carrying.

I bit down on a small bullet fragment yesterday and that was bad enough.

Not to disparage your shooting skills, but was it a Chuck roast or Round?
I think, therefore I am, conservative.
