I bought a No.3 chambered for .30-40 and find that the chamber is unusually tight. New brass from R-P or W-W has to be forced into the chamber and it's so tight the ejector only extracts it. Full length sizing helps a little but, it takes some effort to seat the case and there's no such thing as lowering the muzzle and droping a round into the chamber. The cases show rub marks .30" above the rim. Should I fire form them or does anyone have another idea? Thanks

Your description of an ejected case appears the chamber may be damaged from a partial or full casehead separation. Chamber polishing may be in order. The No3 ejector/extractor is fully adjustable as a No1 is. Owners manual is available for downloading on the Ruger web site. It can kick an empty over your shoulder if you wish.

An update. I loaded and shot the tight cases and after firing, they drop in the chamber slick as corn through a goose.
