Years ago I had a Winchester 77 .22, and IIRC the knob for the bolt was on the left, worked well for a lefty.

Also, I've always felt that the safety on the off side of a typical bolt action like the right hand M700 I am now working with actually works better than one with the sliding safety on the bolt handle side. Working it with the thumb across the grip just seems more natural.

Some designs of various products don't seem well thought out. As an undergraduate I took a course in industrial psychology with a section on human factors engineering. The prof was visiting from the Air Force Academy. He told us all kinds of stories about military equipment that didn't take into account the people who would be using it, including aircraft with different control positions from different manufacturers, leading to crashes, and a tank that required the driver to have extra long arms or legs.

The Savage 24 has an "extra" safety which I found I constantly pushed when shooting. I finally wrapped some string on it so it will not engage. The thing already has a hammer block.

My SA revolvers have the trigger set slightly on one side of the guard, it doesn't really bother me, but I wonder.

I have an old Remington 30 bolt with a peep sight which doesn't bother because I can readily reach across and work the bolt. As slow as I am, everything is basically a single shot anyway. The cheek pieces do bother me when they are on the wrong side.

Caplock and flintlocks don't seem to bother me, but I have never had one with the LH lock either. The patchbox, if provided, is always on the wrong side.

Winchester 94, Marlin 1895, Remington 760 with lefty safety. I have swapped safety's on Ithaca 37, Remington 870 and Winchester 1200. Mossberg 500 works well with the tang safety.

I have a couple of BPS shotguns - the bottom eject is a neat feature, along with the top tang safety. In addition to a couple of lefty A-Bolts, I also have a Marlin 336 in .35 Remington that I dearly love. Just bought a Savage Model 99 in .308 that should get here Wednesday. I can't wait to get my hands on that one.
