After looking over the campfire, I have not saw any discussion on what the hunting population in general, who hunt Colorado. I hear some people are put off how by the way this state feels about certain kinds of guns. Colorado does get quite a lot of money from out of state hunters. Even do it yourself hunters spend money to hunt in CO. Just wondering how this will play a part on how out of state hunters will keep giving this state your money or will other other western states start seeing a boost in out of state hunters? It will hurt good small businesses, i.e. outfitters, to local grocery store, whatever. What's your position?

Colorado will be fine. They will have plenty of income from pot tourists looking for John Denvers promised land. Locals should rejoice that hunting pressure from out of staters will be less. It's a win-win for everyone....

Colorado is the 800 pound gorilla of the elk hunting world. Biggest herd. The last state I believe still selling OTC tags. There has been a lot of chest thumping here and other boards. My guess is they will sell the same amount of tags as they did last year, and the year before.
The governor will sign all the gun control bills pasted by the state legislature. Handful of sheriff's will not enforce but the CSP and the DOW damn sure will.

The 47% will continue to hunt as gun rights don't affect them.

The Colorado ski industry was down 10% in 2012 and is down another 11% on top of that this year. The non resident hunter numbers have also been declining. The economy alone is enough to slow things up so if this accounts for another 10% drop in non resident numbers, it will be felt.

IMO, it will have little effect. There are a few here on the Elk and Deer Hunting forums who are going to boycott Colo. But I think that it boils down to where people can buy tags over the counter and which state sells the cheapest tags.

I'm going to WY for Mulies and pronghorn this year. I'm going to Montana for elk and/or Mulies next year. I'll not look at CO, they won't see my non resident $$.

Since I live in Colorado, there is not a lot of choice, unless I get to where I can move to Wyo., or afford out of state tags and time.
Virtually every out of stater I have met has been courteous, and have offered mules, rides, or just a hand pulling something out. The jerks, unhappily have been for the most part the guys who buy a rifle, orange vest, tent, and license, and become "elk hunters".
As for the DOW and parks merging, I think it is to do with parks wanting more money(excise tax), and the desire of the pols to gut hunting, I have never had much use for the state parks, so natch, the game management got put under their thumb.

Will be very interesting to see how far down the tag applications drop this year. I'm guessing some who say they will boycott will not walk away from their point accumulations.

Well keep the faith guys. I love Colorado and have friends on the AR river and have bird hunted there and Mule deer & Elk out of Craig. When I get the time again I'm going to go back again and shoot me an Elk. To bad all the transplants got in the government and agencies and tried to turn Colorado in to another Schitafornia!

I live only 14 miles from the state line. Colorado will not see a penny of mine any longer. The annual elk hunt is now canceled until further notice. Sorry, but the dope smokers can make up for the money the guys and I won't be spending there.

Just like banning a certain type of weapon because it 'causes' murder, there are multiples waiting in the wings to fill the empty space. My guess is there won't be a difference.
I'm not going elk hunting this year in Colorado, might spend some money in South Dakota with a bird dog though.
